Production Update — March 2026
We are in active pre-production. Key interviews are being scheduled, research is deepening, and community support continues to grow. Thank you for being part of this journey.

As we move deeper into 2026, In the Shadow of Now enters a critical phase of development. The project is no longer an idea on paper — it is a living, breathing production with real momentum, real partnerships, and a growing community of supporters who believe in the power of documentary storytelling to shift perspectives.
Pre-production is now fully underway. Our research team has spent the past three months building a comprehensive archive of primary sources, oral histories, and documentary evidence that will form the backbone of the series. This includes over 200 hours of preliminary interviews, correspondence with historians and legal scholars across four continents, and access to private archives that have never been featured in a documentary production.
The creative team has finalised the narrative structure for the first two parts of the series. Part One will focus on the historical foundations — the events, decisions, and human stories that shaped the conflict from its origins through to the present day. Part Two will turn its lens to the lived experience of those caught in the middle: families, aid workers, journalists, and ordinary people whose daily reality is defined by a situation they did not create.
"On the funding front, we have secured initial commitments that allow us to proceed with confidence through the pre-production phase. Our crowdfunding campaign continues to grow, and conversations with institutional backers and distribution partners are advancing."
On the funding front, we have secured initial commitments that allow us to proceed with confidence through the pre-production phase. Our crowdfunding campaign continues to grow, and conversations with institutional backers and distribution partners are advancing. We are not yet fully funded, but the trajectory is encouraging — and every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to the production phase.
Community engagement has exceeded our expectations. The volunteer network now spans 42 countries, with translators, researchers, designers, and filmmakers contributing their skills to the project. The discussions on our community portal have been thoughtful and substantive, reflecting the seriousness with which our supporters approach this work.
Looking ahead, the coming weeks will bring several significant milestones: the confirmation of our narrator, the finalisation of our interview schedule with key subjects, and the launch of our collaboration platform for community contributors. We will share each of these developments as they happen.
Thank you for being part of this journey. The story we are telling matters — and it is your support that makes it possible.
