In the Shadow of Now is a documentary project by True Illusions Media. This website — intheshadowofnow.com — serves as the project's public-facing platform for community engagement, voting, and donations.

What data we collect

We collect only the minimum data needed to operate the site:

Email addresses — provided voluntarily when voting, donating, or signing up for updates. Used solely for verification and project communications.

Donation information — processed securely through Stripe. We do not store payment card details on our servers. Stripe handles all payment processing under their own privacy policy.

Vote records — we store which candidates you voted for (linked to your verified email) to prevent duplicate voting.

Basic analytics — we may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand how visitors use the site. No personal data is shared with third parties for advertising.

How we use your data

Your data is used exclusively for operating this documentary project: verifying votes, processing donations, and sending project updates you've opted into. We will never sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Data storage

Data is stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure. Email communications are sent via Resend. Both providers maintain strong security and privacy standards.

Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us. If you're in the EU/UK, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
