Part 1: Roots — what historical context do you think is most overlooked?

Part 1 of the series covers the roots of the conflict — from the aftermath of the Holocaust, through the 1948 Nakba, to the decades of occupation, settlement expansion, and international complicity that led to October 7th. There's so much history that mainstream media either skips or oversimplifies. What do you think is the most overlooked piece of historical context?
